Far exceeded expectations
Beautiful, spacious, clean, centrally located. Great quality. Absolutely loved our stay. All correspondences were easy, transfers were seamless, and Sophie was generous enough to offer maps and suggestions for the city. We didn't want to leave!
We went with our adult children and stayed for 4 nights. Beautiful views of the canal. We were received at the ``water-bus`` stop and taken to apt. We got keys and a couple of good tips. Apartment in good condition, good a/c, nice beds, except the sofa bed ! It is in bad shape...do not count on it. We would consider staying there again. Location is good, close enough withoutout being in the center of the turist conmotion.
Great Holiday in Venice
Fabulous property with five windows overlooking the Grand Canal where we watched the parade of boats for the start of the carnival on the Saturday morning. We were a party of five, ages ranging from 19 to 80 and everyone had a wonderful time in this spacious home from home.
tres bel appartement
Memorable Christmas holiday
Beautiful location in one of the most amazing point of Venice. It is at walking distance from the Rialto bridge and Piazza San Marco. The 5 large windows overlooking the Canal Grande are constantly remembering you are in one of the most incredible town of the world. The apartment is very comfortable, it looks very well and the staff is kind and always available. We spent there a memorable Christmas holiday. Very close to the Ca’ Corner Gheltoff there are restaurants, tavern (bacaros) where to go ``bar hopping``, markets, the gondola stop (so called traghetto) that allows you to cross the Canal Grande between S.Tomà and S.Angelo. Happy new year to all of you!
Large apt. on the Grand Canal!!
Thanks again for all your help. We LOVED Ca' Corner - a great find. It was a BIG place - perfect for our needs. I would definitely recommend you and that place to anyone.
Far exceeded expectations
All correspondence was very easy and quick. Transfers were seamless. Apartment was extremely spacious, perfectly located, and beautiful. Our party of three generations were so comfortable that we spent many afternoons watching the boats on the canal with a picnic lunch in the living room. Would absolutely book again.
Live like a Venetian
More than most vacation destinations, visitors to Venice want to experience the life of the local residents, at least for a short while. And while the hospitality at most high-end and many smaller hotels in Venice is exemplary, it is focused on providing a good tourist experience. Far better for those who wish to do more than just observe Venetians is to rent an apartment in Venice. Over the years we have done it both ways, and our best experience by far was the week in April that we spent in the Corner Gheltoff. First, the location on the Canal Grande cannot be overemphasized. Through the windows in the dual living rooms we were in constant contact with the pulse of the city. Everyday events became remarkable. In the early morning, the surface of the water is frequently undisturbed, with the uniquely turquoise water reflecting the orange of the palazzo across the way. The traghetto traverses back and forth in front of the windows – the gondoliers in the morning are older, replaced later in the day and on weekends by younger fellows, likely following an ancient system of seniority. The vaporetti become more crowded as the day progresses; in the midday they are packed, full of tourists straining for a glimpse of life within the palazzi as they pass. From the window you will find that you are the subject of more than a few amateur movies. If there is an emergency, you may see a fireboat flying up the Canal as in the movies, leaving gondolas bobbing in its wake. The Palazzo is wonderful. Arrive by water taxi to the private dock – for a group, it isn’t even much of a splurge, and it is the perfect introduction to your stay in Venice. The apartment is large, well-equipped, and clean. It is somewhat sparsely but very comfortably furnished. The beds were of high quality, and the sofas conducive to relaxation – neither is necessarily common in Italy. The small but serviceable kitchen contained everything necessary for occasional casual meals. Everything in the drawers and cabinets was clean and organized and the glassware was elegant and proper. We took full advantage of the amenities. We didn’t just observe the markets near the Rialto like tourists, we selected the freshest fish for a simple crudo preparation, and local artichokes for a quick sauté with olive oil and pasta. We found excellent prosciutto and cheeses near the Rialto markets, and there is also a very good selection just at the corner shop outside the Palazzo’s courtyard. The selection of nearby restaurants isn’t the best, at least for our tastes. But we found that the walk to San Polo or Cannaregio for dinner each night was enjoyable, and the leisurely return even more so. Otherwise, the central location of Corner Gheltoff is ideal. There is a well-stocked Punta supermarket nearby – see if you can find the way without using the route between the campos that is thronged with tourists. If you continue past the Punta you will find a quieter path to the Rialto, with only Venetians for company along the way. For a family large or small, Corner Gheltoff is a very good choice.
A WONDERFUL STAY IN VENICE - MEMORIES WILL REMAIN ALWAYS
The views of the Grand Canal were superb and the space inside the apartment was a premium for our four grand-children! In an ideal position for both St Marks Square and the Rialto Bridge. Catching a water taxi which was arranged for us by Marco was great as it brought us right to the door where we were met by Bruno who escorted us to our wonderful apartment and explained and marked a map for us super! Well equipped and an added bonus was a dishwasher as there were ten of us and ofcourse Wi-Fi ! Very close to food shops and a supermarket. Lovely comfortable beds for us all and excellent bathrooms rather like a palace that's what the children thought and I quite agree!
I with sister and brother-in-law stayed for a week in the apartment. Wonderful May weather allowed many walks throughout the city and central location of apartment meant all Venice was easily visited. Easy access to vaporetto service also to move around the city and travel to Murano and Lido. Wonderful apartment, large windowns provided means to see and hear the life along the Grand Canal. All services were available in the apartment. Venice is a magical city and this was a magical apartment.
Our perfect trip to Venice at the Ca' Corner Gheltoff
I have just returned from a wonderful four nights in Venice with my family and two close friends after celebrating a special birthday. The apartment was perfectly located with all the special places a short walk away, through the little streets and over the bridges. We arrived in style by water taxi that dropped us off just outside our apartment. We entered the great hall and took a short flight if stairs to our apartment. What a spectacular apartment and so spacious. We were blown away when Bruno opened the shutters and we saw the view of the Grand Canal. The sitting room/ dining room and drawing room and media rooms were all very spacious and comfortable. The bedrooms were huge, especially the two doubles. The only slight downsize was the ensuite to the main bedroom. Although functional it was rather dated. The beds were extremely comfortable. Bruno was very helpful in terms of his knowledge of Venice and recommended a couple if very good restaurants, both within a short walk of the apartment. I would highly recommend Red House for the personal service provided and the quality if the apartments offered. We look forward to another trip in a few years from now.
Amazing 13th Century Palace
This accommodation more than met all our expectations. Apart from it being such a part of history, the location right on the Grand Canal is perfect. If you like walking a bit (and let's face it, there are very few other choices in Venice) you will find most of the touristy things nearby. We chose not to go that way, and instead just wandered where the locals go, and if we came across a tourist thing, okay. The apartment itself is very liveable, and we didn't want to leave. Easy check-in, and thanks Bruno for seeing us off.
Can't think of a better way to see Venice than staying here
This beautiful apartment is ideal for a multi-generational family holiday. Grandparents, parents, teenager and younger children in our party all absolutely loved it. We totally agree with the other reviews about how huge, comfortable, well equiped and beautifully furnished and decorated this historic apartment is. The location is also really wonderful. You can walk over the Rialto bridge early in the morning to buy all sorts of fresh fish and vegetables from the vibrant, picturesque and extensive market there, cook them in the evening in the well-equiped kitchen, and eat whilst watching gondolas on the grand canal through the huge windows. Also, being extremely close to the St Samuele vaporetto stop, meant we could buy the 'Vaporetto dell'Arte' pass and travel easily and very comfortably all around Venice, avoiding the crush of the ordinary Vaparetto - particularly important if anyone in your group has limited mobility, and the hop-on/hop-off cruise is a total pleasure in itself. The area is just ideal - very very pretty, very friendly and safe - the local shop is open until 8 pm and excellently stocked, and the local ice-cream parlour on the corner of St Stefano Square is particularly highly recommended! I can't think of a better way to see Venice than staying here. I hope we can return soon, thank you for a really wonderful holiday.
As Good as It Gets!
This apartment was huge! Every room was large, even by American standards, and probably 3 to4 times bigger than one typically expects in Europe. The pictures accurately represent the apartment, which is sometimes not the case. Everyone in our party of 8 were very happy with it. The highlight of course was overlooking the Grand Canal. Other than actually sleeping, this where everybody spent most of their time, when in the apartment. In regards to the layout, the only negative is that one bedroom has an ensuite bathroom. The other two bathrooms, exceptionally modern, were in the hall. so occupants of the other bedrooms had to leave the bedroom to go to the bathroom. The apartment did have a washing machine, which we did not recall being listed in the description, which was a very pleasant surprise. All rooms except for the bathrooms, had air conditioning which worked perfectly. The property manager will arrange a water taxi from and to the airport, that arrives and departs from your own private dock! At first it might appear quite expensive, but is definitely worth it. We can recommend this peoperty without reservation.
We loved the rental. It was very spacious and in a very central location in Venice. Believe it or not, we didn't even use the formal living room because it was that spacious! We were within walking distance of Rialto and st. Mark's. We didn't have to use the vaparetto except on our trip to Burano and Murano. I would highly recommend ths rental especially for families traveling together.
This is a really lovely apartment, beautifully furnished, enormous comfortable double beds. It has a DVD player which I don't think is mentioned. It is very well located not far from the vaparetto stop and by direct boat from San Marco airport. We were met at the stop and walked to the accommodation. Everything we needed to know was explained. As our flight home was not until the evening we were able to leave our luggage at the Red House office. There was nothing at all to complain about. The views out to the grande canal were the icing in the cake.
Roomy with a view!!
Very pleased we rented this spacious apartment through Red House Company/Flipkey. Called the company on arrival at the airport and were met at the apartment by a super young guy called Pietro, who explained absolutely everything in detail (even where the fuses were in the case of electricity outages) which was great. The apartment is spacious, with lots of cupboard space, good linen, and quality appliances. We were only 4 people, but this apartment is well suited to quite a few more with no effort. The location is fabulous, a friendly deli/grocery store around the corner, an easy stroll to wherever we wanted to go, and the traghetto right there to get to the other side. Our teen girls loved to sit on the window sill waving at the ``paparazzi`` snapping their pics from the vaporettos going by...the bustling Grand Canal silent when you close the windows. A real highlight of our trip. Both the apartment and the rental company - highly recommended.
Great place for large family
Ca Corner Gheltoff is a great property that is as advertised on the Red House Company site. It is perfect for larger groups (we had 8 people, including 4 kids) who want a little more space than normal hotels (+cooking facilities) and who don't want to pay for 3 rooms in very expensive Venice. Positives of the Property 1) Location is very good. Right on Grand Canal as advertised (view to right to Rialto), within 1 block of small grocery shop/nice local restaurant, and restaurants of local square. Rialto and San Marco 10 minute walk either way, or can take Vaporetto stop within 3-4 minute walk. Just far enough off main drag to get slightly more local 2) Big place with well stocked (but small) kitchen. 3) All modern amenities (wifi, AC, satellite TV, microwave, dishwasher, etc.), comfortable rooms, modern-ish decor (good mix of old and new) 4) Great value compared to paying for 3 overpriced Venice hotel rooms 5) Private dock so you can bring luggage directly into property if you take private water taxi (instead of lugging stuff around town) 6) Red House team very nice/efficient with check-in/checkout and arranging water taxis Things to think about: 1) There are rules, but nothing overbearing 2) As an apartment, check-in/check-out times need to be planned (can't show up whenever like hotel) 3) It is not on top of toursit locations if that is a priority (but why?) 4) It isn't a hotel, so no gym, room-service, etc. - but again - why look for this in a Venice apartment? All in all - the perfect choice for our family. We loved to view, the space, the quiet area, and the proximity to all of the major areas to browse in Venice...
In the heart of Venice
It is not easy to find a good place in Venice for a family with 4 kids. Hotel rooms are often too small, holiday appartments tend to be a bit ugly and cheap. Ca' Corner Gelthoff was the best place for our family. Quiet, but right in the heart of Venice, direct view to the Canal Grande - we could do some sightseeing in the morning, have siesta, and go on with our visits in the afternoon. Apart from that, the house itself is a wonderful architectural monument of this city. Everything could be done by waterbus. Little shops around the corner supplied us with whatever we needed.
Superb Apartment on Grand Canal
This apartment exceeded in many ways my expectation - it was soo large and with wonderful views onto the Grand Canal from main living rooms - there are two. Central - walking distance to many of the ``tourist`` spots, but with a lovely square for eating/drinking within 1 minute walk, plus excellent little mini supermarket - virtually on the doorstep and lots of other essential little shops for everyday needs. All rooms were large - only 3rd bedroom left a little to be desired - as in very little natural light and opened onto lounge/diner or window to ``well``. 4th bedroom (aka TV lounge) was nice too tho not huge either by compasion, had ``walk in wardobe`` with step up and through access to 2nd lounge - another very large room. Kitchen was well equipped but small - with opening onto internal ``well`` of tiny terrace - good for clothes drying! The entrance to the building is in a beautiful little courtyard, with direct access to the Grand Canal - through the very grand and impressive entrance way. Short walk from Vaparetto stop - so no probs about luggage - if you've got wheels on cases! Loved it and would highly recommend a stay here. Hope we will be back at some point.
Excellent place, escellent stay, excellent service
The apartment is recently renovated, well equipped, very convenient and very well located (in the San Marco area between Rialto and accademia bridges, just few steps away from San Polo through the traghetto at the immediate corner with a grocery shop and restaurants nearby ...). The Red House Company management and staff was very pleasant and helpful all along our stay.
Amazing Palazzo on the Grand Canal
This place was truly magical. It is a grand, one might say ``palatial``, apartment in a palazzo directly on the Grand Canal. It was very comfortably furnished and the kitchen was well equipped. Everything was sparkling clean. We had three large bedrooms, a tv room, two living rooms (!) and 3 bathrooms. We traveled with my kids (ages 6 and 7) and my grandparents. Everything about our stay was wonderful. Red House handed all our questions, gave us great restaurant recommendations, and made sure everything worked smoothly. The neighborhood is cute and quaint and about a 5 minute walk to the Accademia Bridge and 10 min to either Rialto or San Marco. We loved it!
We stayed 4 days and everything was perfect. Perfect situation, 10 minutes to San Marco, 10 minutes to Rialto and very close to the academy Bridge. Close to restaurants, shops and vaporetto. The appartment is huge with an amazing canal view, we were 9 persons and we had no problem as it is fully equipped. Marco was very pleasant and gave us all the necessary information about Venezia upon arrival. Fantastic stay at a very good price!!
This apartment is nothing less then a palace on the Grand Canal. All the upgrades to plumbing and kitchen are well done, modern and pristinely styled. But the charm mainly comes from the fantastic old bones of the place, the relics of texture and color from the past.
Appartamento accogliente, posizione centrale e strategica per arrivare in qualsiasi posto a piedi. Locali ampi e ben arredati.
Apartamento como descrito, localização ótima. Comunicação e pontualidade perfeitas. Adoramos!
Our family with two teenage kids had the BEST experience in Venice. We loved the apartment and the neighborhood and will come back soon! Erica&Thomas July 2016
My family and I greatly enjoyed our stay at Ca Corner Gheltoff! Gaia was very nice and helpful for organizing our check in and transportation from the airport. The private water taxi took us directly to the house's boat entrance on the Grand Canale, where she welcomed us. (I greatly recommend the private transfer from the airport! I think we would have had a very difficult time getting to the Palazzo with our luggage without help). The apartment is beautiful, very large and comfortable, with a great view from the Canale. We all had a lot of space and all amenities that we needed. The beds were very comfortable, and the kitchen had all the necessary appliances. The only minor problem is that the wifi network does not reach the back of the house, where the master bedroom is, but that was a minor thing for me. The house has a washer, but no drier. It took about one night to dry our clothes with the help of the heat in the apartment. There is a wonderful little grocery store just around the corner from the house, where we bought everything we needed to eat (bread, cold cuts, drinks, coffee, etc) The apartment is in a great location, and we could walk pretty much everywhere from there. I greatly recommend this house, and hope to return there again myself!
