Reviews – Ca’ Dorina
Très bon séjour, très bel appartement, bien équipé. Équipe de l’agence très disponible pour toute question. Bruno qui est venu nous chercher au vaporetto pour nous amener à l’appartement est très sympa et très dispo ! Nous recommandons !!
Clean, new and modern apartment, spacious, convenient location walking distance to most sights. Completely unexpected when you see the location of the front door. Down an dark ally between the sweet shop and an estate agent, but open the door and it is a modern bright apartment. There are three steps up as you enter through the front door an open plan kitchen, diner, lounge area. Bathroom with shower and toilet and twin bedroom off of this area. Door through to master bedroom off of which you have a private on-suite bathroom with a deep bath and own toilet etc.
Walk out the front door and tern left onto, high street shopping street, right to station left towards attraction. There was a Water Bus driver strike the day we left, so we walked to the station with our bags, it is possible but a long walk and a couple of bridges to cross that have steps.
Turn right out the front door and right again to go to the supermarket for the essentials.
We stayed 4 nights in early November 2017, were met from the water bus. We were given instructions as to which bus to take from the airport to Venice and then told to take the water bus. These are very easy to use and well mapped out just buy a ticket and hop on and off. Tickets are available from the shops at the bus stop. We phoned when we arriced at the airport, told that we would be met at the water bus stop closest to the appartment and then phoned again when we arrived. We were met by a very knowlagable, helpful chap that took walked with us to the appartment and went through everything in detail, including where the shop was on the map and tourist attractions that he recommended. Excellent meet and greet service that set us up for the days ahead.
High tides are a problem in Venice but this appartment was fine while we were there and the flooding did not make it to our door, despite raised walkways in some other areas.
Don't wast your money on an expensive hotel stay here with more space and also save on the cost of at least one meal a day if not two!
We enjoyed our stay in August 2017. The home is comfortable and well appointed. It's a peaceful escape from the hustle of the crowds and just steps away from everything. Great location!
Value for money 10.0
The apartment was as described - very modern and well-appointed. My wife and I spent a week there in May. It is a flat (now that's unusual for Venice!) 5 minute walk from the Ca D-Oro Vaporetto stop and perhaps a bit longer (not flat) to the Rialto bridge. The apartment is a bit off of the main pedestrian through route from the railway station to San Marco square down a narrow alley and there is some street noise (school-kids shouting at each other) during the day, but it rapidly dies down at night, so it isn't a real problem - if anything it convinces you that real people live here. We found that buying a week-long pass on the vaporetto was a really good deal - on one occasion we went the length of the Grand Canal in the front of the boat - marvelous experience. That alone was worth the price of the pass. Definitely would return if the fates allow.
I was initially hesitant to book this apartment, as there were very little reviews on it. When we arrived, we were told is was new to the company- which was clear from the modern & clean apartment. We were met at the water bus stop by Sofie who walked us to the apartment which was a nice touch. It was less than a 5 min walk. She showed us around the apartment and gave us some reccomendations of bars/resturants/places to see and most inportantly ice cream shops! The apartment was down a small alleyway just off a busy street leading on to the small streets of Venice. Just round the corner was a co-op which was handy. Everything is within walking distance in Venice which is lovely as you can get lost exploring and never be too far away! The apartment itself was great. The open plan kitchen & lounge was a good size and had everything you needed. Even a small dishwasher, a tv and wifi. The lounge had a sofa bed, and a small bathroom with shower was just off the lounge, next to the twin bedroom. The main bedroom was much bigger than expected, with a huge double bed and ensuite with bath. The second twin room was also good, although had barely any space to put your clothes so I pretty much lived out of my suitcase for the weekend. The apartment also had a safe which was nice to have as we ensure we are able to lock away valuables when we go away. Overall, I would most definatley reccomend this apartment. It is a great base for exploring Venice.
I traveled with my wife and daughter(19). We were met at the water bus stop Fondamenta Nove and taken to the apartment, without a guide we would not have found it. Once we were in the apartment we were shown around and told how it all worked including putting out rubbish for the bin men. There was a book explaining everything as well. We connected to the WIFI to make sure that it was all working ok, no problems. We were given a map of Venice and had places marked out on it of places that were good to visit, not just the normal tourist attractions. Once everything was sorted we paid the City tax which was a bit more than we expected (80 euros) in cash, I had previously tried to find out about the rates which said a lot about hotels and star ratings on a sliding scale but found nothing about apartment rentals, so make sure you have budgeted for that. Once we were on our own and looked closely at the apartment we were very happy, it was spotless. The main bedroom and en suite were large and comfortable, the bed was firm and no problems sleeping. The second bedroom had two single beds and a separate small shower room & wc. The main living area was spacious and well set out, large tv with Sky. The Sky channels are Italian, though a lot of the programs can be changed to their original language on the yellow button if you are not fluent in Italian. The kitchen area was small and functional though not much worktop space. It was well equipped, large fridge, washing machine, dish washer, microwave, gas hob, fan assisted oven. Plenty of crockery, cutlery and cooking utensils. The apartment is well situated in Venice, turning right out of the apartment there is a convenience store (Coop) close by (about 4 mins away) where you can get snacks, food and essentials, also a restaurant, coffee bar and cinema. Turning left out of the apartment takes you to a main shopping street and Venice beyond. Other than the occasional trundle of someone pulling their suitcase passed the apartment the only other noise we heard were church bells ringing. All in all I could not fault the apartment, after a day of wandering around Venice it was nice to get back to it and relax with a nice cuppa.
Positioned just off of the main Strada in Cannaregio this makes an ideal base for exploring Venice. The approach down a narrow alley appeared at first a little intimidating but we soon realised that this was the norm for a lot of properties. Being on the ground floor proved beneficial as an older couple however, the downside is that the lights need to be on all of the time .... a small price to pay for the convenience. We didn't use the cooking facilities therefore cannot comment although there appeared to be everything in place and very clean. The washing machine was a bonus as we had already been travelling for 12 days. It is an excellent apartment let down only by the quality of the towels. They needed replacing long before our use of the apartment. (Hopefully the owner takes note and replaces them)
The property was perfectly located , two minutes from the Ca D'Oro vaporetto stop, near a supermarket and well placed to discover the restaurants and wine bars of the Canereggio. We were met at the vaporetto stop and given a detailed briefing by your representative who gave us useful tips on where to go and what to see. The flat was in very good condition and provided all the facilities that we needed.
This lovely apt. was immaculate and well appointed. Very spacious. Bruno was extremely nice, and most helpful at check-in. He supplied us with a city map, noting closed days and best times to visit the many sites, and vaporetto info. Busy nearby wine bar, and The Irish Pub Venice are steps away and worth the visit. Great location, just off the main walkway. Highest recommendations. Only place we will stay in Venice from now on.
My husband and I had a wonderful stay in Ca'Dorina. Bruno met us at the Vaporetto stop, Ca'd'Oro, and walked us to the flat a short distance away. He was a perfect guide; telling us where the nearest supermarket was, a good coffee shop etc. The flat was down a little quiet alley and was ideally located for doing all sightseeing, going for walks, for the vaporetto, and there were restaurants nearby. It was very clean and well furnished, as described in the listing, we were very pleased with it. Bruno showed us round, how to work the appliances and then pointed out on the map what to see and how to get to various places, adding lots of useful information such as what was the best time to visit St Marks. We asked about concerts in churches and he told us of the church San Vidal at the Academia Bridge where we went to hear Vivaldi's Four Seasons one evening which was excellent. There was a bar/restaurant round the corner in Calle dell'Oca - ai promessi sposi where we had two good meals. We also loved snacking in tapas bars, standing drinking a spritz Aperolo or Proscecco and sampling the appetizers. Similarly for a coffee and cake in a patisserie shop. Apart from doing the 'must see sights' I particularly enjoyed walking round the quieter streets, north of the flat, and going into the beautiful churches along the way. We would definitely recommend the property - and Bruno - to friends and family. The Red House Company was extremely efficient and we would use them again.

The flaws in this ideally located apartment are too few and too minor to detract from its 5-star rating. We shared it with another couple--friends from Luxembourg--and they agree that the apartment was first rate, so I speak for them as well. Never mind that there were no facilities to dry laundry (though a top-notch washing machine is provided) or that the smaller bathroom had issues (since we didn't use it, I forget what those were). The place was generously equipped and the amenities were ample and well-functioning. Our one regret was that we didn't take the manager's recommendations for restaurants. While we cooked most of our meals ``at home,`` those we had out left us thinking that Venice is more a feast for the eyes than the mouth.
We loved this apartment. The location is excellent. It allows you to live amongst Venetians and feel closer to the local culture but is strategically located to allow easy access to the vaporetto. We had a great time in Venice. The apartment had everything we needed and Marco provided instructions on how to locate the market so that we could pick up basic items for our stay. We would definitely stay at this property again. The photographs and descriptions are very accurate and Marco is excellent to deal with. Grazie Mille!!
The apartment is in a good location, close to two vaporetto stops. Impressed with the cleanliness, has all modern amenities, can easily accommodate four people. The booking, check-in and check-out were all smooth. Will rent again if staying in Venice.
We stayed at the apartment for four nights with our family of five. The apartment is modern, very nice and very clean. The kitchen was well stocked and the beds were very comfortable. It is located on a quiet street close to many restaurants and shops. Red House company was great to work with. The apartment was very easy to book on-line. We called when we arrived in Venice and they met us at the vaporetto stop and took us directly to the apartment. We walked everywhere in Venice and this location was ideal. We would stay here again!!
Fab place, tucked away just off the main street the apartment is comfy, clean and very well stocked with all you need and very good quality. Meet and greet from Bruno very efficient and welcoming. Thank you for a great Easter Break.
Very nice and clean apartment. We visited during Carnevale. Close to numerous restaurants and the Ca’D’Oro vaporetto stop. There is also a supermarket 5 minutes away if you feel like eating in. Bruno was awesome and gave us a thorough rundown of the apartment, area and interesting events happening during Carnevale, thank you. We are planning to come back and would definitely rent from Red House company again.
We stayed at this lovely apartment for four nights in November, 2013. It was perfect for our family of five traveling with three children to Italy. We were within walking distance or a near vaporetto stop. The apartment was close to every shop we could possibly want to visit including a large grocery store, bakeries and of course gelato, too! We were able to cook meals and eat with the well equipped kitchen. Bruno met us at the Vaporetto stop and was kind and helpful. We would recommend Ca'Dorina very highly. We had a wonderful time in Italy and would stay here again.
We stayed for 4 nights in Sept 2013. The apartment is just as described - very convenient location, but on a quiet side street. The apartment was very well equipped, stylish, a nice size, and everything worked. It has a powerful air conditioning system, although we didn't need to use it much. Lots of good food nearby - gelato, bakeries and restaurants. The vaporetto and traghetto stops were nearby, so it was easy to get around town but just a quick walk to San Marco.
My husband, his brother and wife stayed at Ca' Dorina a couple of weeks ago and found it an ideal launching pad to see all of Venice. The ground floor access makes it easy on the legs after a long day (thought it's raised safely above flood level). Quiet neighborhood, easy access to Water Bus stops and similarly easy walk (10 minutes or so) by foot to St. Marks and even closer to the Rialto Bridge. It's a gorgeously decorated, well-equipped flat and The Red Door crew are the best to work with in every respect.
We stayed 6 nights in this lovely apartment and enjoyed every minute of it. The apartment was clean, spacious, and really comfortable. The kitchen is well-stocked, and the furnishings are new and modern; nothing shabby here. Everything worked perfectly, including the air conditioning and wifi. The location is magnificent. The apartment is located in a quiet little alley, so it is very peaceful, day or night. It is within easy walking distance to two convenient vaporetto stops, including the airport connection. We literally walked all over Venice, using this perfectly situated little apartment as our home base. There were supermarkets, bakeries, cheese shops and, of course, gelato all less than a five-minute walk way. The Red House Company provided impeccable service. Booking was handled easily and professionally, they met us at the vaporetto stop exactly as planned and exactly on time, gave us a careful and thorough walk-through of the apartment, answered all our questions (and made many helpful suggestions), were right on time for our checkout appointment, and refunded our security deposit promptly. I highly recommend the Red House Company in general, and this apartment in particular. We will happily stay here again if we find ourselves lucky enough to return to Venice anytime soon!
My family (group of 5) had an excellent stay at Ca' Dorina just before Easter. It is a lovely apartment and extremely comfortable. Two very nice bedrooms, two bathrooms and a comfy sofa bed. The kitchen is small but well equipped with good quality pots and pans (often not the case in rented apartments). One of the best features was the location - in the Cannaregio area just close to Ca' d'Oro and the Vaparetto stop. The apartment is on a very quiet alley just of the main Strada Nuova and close to a large supermarket. You can also easily get to the Rialto bridge in 8 minutes and the fantastic market just over the Grand Canal. Walking to St Mark's would take approximately 20 minutes. Finally if you are going to the Islands or by boat to the airport it is less than a 15 minute walk to Fondamente Nuove It's hard to find a fault but it I was being very picky I would say that there was not a huge amount of natural light because of the narrow alleys on either side and it is on the ground floor so if you want views of the Grand Canal this would not be right for you. Otherwise I would highly recommend the apartment for the quality, cleanliness, comfort and excellent service from Marco and Co at Red House. We will definitely stay here again when we come to Venice again.
No need to walk far for food shopping or to enjoy the local shops. The vaporetto stop is very close, this is a very big plus. Very clean and the quality of the furnishings is excellant. I have rented in Venice numerous times and this was the best apt.
My wife & I have recently enjoyed a week in Venice with our 11 year old daughter staying in Ca'Dorina. It is our 5th visit to Venice but the first time we have chosen to stay in an apartment & it was perfect for us, The apartment was in a wonderful location and is as just as nice as the pictures would lead you to believe, it had every home comfort you would expect & it also gave our daughter the opportunity to have her own bedroom & therefore her own space. We were also impressed with the service provided by the Red House Company, we made a phonecall from the airport & were then met at our vapporetto stop by Bruno who walked us to our apartment, showed us the facilities & then took the time to talk to us about our location & point out places of interest, supermarkets etc on a map he provided, Although the weather was a little rainy and we experienced the worst acqua alta we have seen (not good when we had to wade through knee deep water with our cases to get back to the Alilaguna stop!) we had a fabulous time & would always book this apartment for any future visits.
We stayed in Venice for 3 nights and really loved this unit. It is superbly equipped and everything works beautifully. The location is fantastic and it is whisper quiet in the evening. I would highly recommend to anyone who doesn't mind the price point. The Red House service was also immaculate. The only negative was some very small scorpion looking insects which crawled out of the bidet from time to time.
the apartment was as well maintained as you could wish for 1.ideal location to be at in Venice in order to visit the Venice on foot .Mr. marco delivered excellent customer service . he was there at the meeting point well before we reached . Definitely we ll stay in the same apartment when ever we visit venice again .
well located . very well maintained and clean good customer service ll recommend every one .
Ca' D'orina was everything promised by the Red House Co's website & more. The apartment was very well set up with everything necessary for a week's stay in Venice. It was fully renovated with beautiful ultra modern furnishings & fittings (including a very comfortable king size bed) and it was a really good size for our family of 4 (including our 2 teenage boys). As well, it was perfectly positioned in a quiet laneway away from the main tourist strips and frequented by local residents, yet only 10-15 minutes walk from all major attractions. The many many hours of accom research that I did for our Venice leg was well worth it in discovering Ca' D'orina. The people from the rental agency, Red House Co (particularly Marco the owner and Gaia), went out of their way to provide us with a fantastic introduction to Venice and overall- a really positive client experience. Would we stay in the same place and use the same company again? Absolutely! We loved Ca' Dorina.
Very recently renovated 2 bedroom apartment, slept 2 adults and 3 teenagers in comfort. Great facilities, wifi, sat tv and ac as promised. Always had hot water too! Great location 5 min walk from vaperetto blue line from airport, 10 mins to Rialto Bridge. Very quiet alley. Good restaurants nearby, if you want to stay local, small supermarket, a 3 min walk where you can get all you need. Marco met us from boat and showed us everything in the apartment. I highly recommend their service and this particular place, we would stay there again if we are back in Venice!
